Looking to relocate from Miami, FL. to Rochester, NY. but trying to get a job first...?
Most of my experience come from working for a medical-surgical distributor managing rebated and non rebated contracts (pricing agreements for hospitals), this as you may be thinking, isn't a very common job and rather industry specific. I'm quite sure hospitals in the area have a "contracts" department but those jobs aren't plentiful and readily available.
I'm currently doing all the purchasing for a company that manufactures elevators.
I'd like to land an administrative job, maybe as an administrative/executive assistant, something along those lines but I can not afford to get paid $8 - $10 hourly. That would just be crazy. Considering the difference in cost of living I'm willing to go down to about $28,000.00/Yr.
Any suggestions as to where I should be looking for a job? Any suggestions or tips on the job market out in Rochester, NY.?
I'm looking to move around the East Ave and Alexander area, I think that's the 14604 zip code...

I haven't lived in Rochester before, but I lived in Long Island and Queens (Astoria). I now live in NJ -- 10 minutes from Manhattan and am actually looking to move to Kendall or Coral Gables!!
I was an administrative assistant and office manager for about 4 years and I can tell you that if you like it and stick with it, you can make some decent money. However, I think your best bet would be to work in Manhattan if you're going to live in NY. I'm not sure what your commute would be like, but you will have to factor that in along with the cost to commute to the city. It may be worth it since the city is a mecca for law firms, financial firms, real estate development firms, hospitals -- you name it and Manhattan's got it. It is also very competitive, so it may take a while to find something.
Try newyork.craigslist.com; careerbuilder.com; monster.com; nytimes.com; and yahoo hot jobs for jobs all over NY. Finding a job before moving seems to be difficult no matter where you're going, but I hear it's possible. Good luck!
